Breakfast Time
John's father wakes up early. He goes to the kitchen, where his wife is preparing pancakes. Their son Alex and daughter Emma are still sleeping. John's mother phones from upstairs: "Coffee ready?"
O pai do John acorda cedo. Vai pra cozinha, onde sua esposa tá preparando panquecas. O filho Alex e a filha Emma ainda estão dormindo. A mãe do John liga de cima: "Café pronto?"

Family Gathering
Today is Sunday — visit day to John's parents. His grandfather tells war stories. Grandmother bakes the best apple pies. Both grandparents are the heart of Sunday lunch.
Hoje é domingo — dia de visitar os pais do John. O avô conta histórias de guerra. A avó faz as melhores tortas. Os dois avós são o coração do almoço de domingo.

On the Road
John talks about his brother Mike, who married Sarah — Sarah is his sister-in-law. John's sister Lisa married David — David is his brother-in-law. The family is full of siblings.

The Blended Family
Emma sits next to her stepmother. The kids also have a stepfather from their mom's side. Together, they are the stepparents. Alex is a stepson, Emma is a stepdaughter. Each one is technically a stepchild to someone — but everyone belongs.

The Cousins Arrive
Three kids run in — Emma's cousins! Charlie's son is John's nephew, his daughter is his niece. Then a small child appears, followed by two more children — Mary's twins. The yard fills with laughter.

Generation Photos
Emma's husband arrives — yes, she's grown and married. Time flies. The grandparents pose proudly. Emma's godparents — Uncle Tom and Aunt Lucy — flew in from Florida. Three generations smile for the camera.
O marido da Emma chega — sim, ela cresceu e casou. O tempo voa. Os avós posam com orgulho. Os padrinhos da Emma — Tio Tom e Tia Lucy — vieram da Flórida. Três gerações sorriem pra câmera.
CAPÍTULO 07 · 19H00 — LIVING ROOM
In-Laws Discussion
After dinner, Emma's father-in-law shares stories. Her mother-in-law serves coffee. Both parents-in-law are wonderful. Later, Emma's brother introduces his new son-in-law. The family keeps growing — even Uncle Charlie and Aunt Mary stay late.
Depois do jantar, o sogro da Emma conta histórias. A sogra dela serve café. Os dois sogros são maravilhosos. Mais tarde, o irmão da Emma apresenta o novo genro. A família continua crescendo — até o Tio Charlie e a Tia Mary ficam até tarde.

Goodnight
The day ends. John tucks his daughter in bed. "Goodnight, sweetheart." He thinks of his family — the loud, messy, blended, in-law, step, godparent, every-kind family — and smiles. "We're lucky," he whispers. "We have each other."
O dia termina. John põe a filha na cama. "Boa noite, querida." Ele pensa na família dele — barulhenta, bagunçada, misturada, com sogros, padrastos, padrinhos, todo tipo — e sorri. "Somos sortudos," sussurra. "Temos uns aos outros."
